Much Needed Beach Getaway

Last weekend some girlfriends and I escaped the city and drove down to the coast. We brought a truck load of nail polish (and of course stopped to get more on the way!). One of the girls made an awesome Tater Tot Casserole topped with goat cheese and a Better Than Sex Cake that was so good that we were all eating it for breakfast. It was a nice time, and we lazed around barely leaving the house, except to run off to the beach for a couple of hours on Saturday,

We also drank a lot of tequila.

Foam Swords and Neon

I have had the most wonderful week of picture-taking!

This past weekend we were back at Mandell Park all afternoon with our friends and their dogs to watch the LARPers. I can't put in to words how nice the weather was, I'll just let you feel that sunlight come out through the pictures.

Below here you'll see my friend Caroline, possibly the cutest girl I know, decked out in neon regalia in full show of her ferocity which came in to full swing after being loaned a foam sword from one of the LARPers. Her war partner/husband was running her all around the perimeters of our picnic area to ensure that all intruders were fatally wounded. There's a lot of determination (and attitude) behind those orange sunglasses, let me tell you.

Time to start sewing again!

Hallelujah, it's Friday. How is everyone doing today?  Do you have any special plans over the weekend?

I just wanted to drop a quick word, and post some product shots from my Etsy store, which is up and running again after a six month hiatus! It was fun, but now..back to business.

The exciting thing about my work is that you can completely customize your order by choosing thread and fabric colors, or you can send me a picture and I can embroider you a family heirloom. Just take a look!

Aren't Lee Ola and Wayne cute? I think she is beautiful. You can order one here.

Have an absolutely fantastic day.

Experimental Vacation

Last weekend, Austin and I packed up ourselves and Ruthie and took off to the Hill Country to camp with our friends in a giant tepee! It was a tad bit chilly, but we made a bon fire and cuddled up with all the dogs.

I think I want to go back, but when it's warmer so we can swim.

PS- I DON'T HAVE CAMPING FASHION. No judging. ;)

For the Foodies

Last week I photographed a catered event with food made by Moon Jamaluddin with Momo Catering, who is a fast rising star in the culinary world of Houston. Let me just tell you, this girl is talented when it comes to combining flavors for the curious palette.

I always love doing this type of work because I get samples!  Here's a few snapshots of some of her specialty rolls and spicy chocolate ganache. (Oh!)

I always get hungry when doing post production on food shots.

Have an absolutely wonderful day.

Homemade soy latte and Hello Kitty cake

I have a girlfriend who makes specialty cakes! She was making a Hello Kitty cake for her little girl's birthday, and I watched this woman stress, sweat  and probably gain muscle mass while rolling out hard fondant balls the size of baseballs. Though I didn't get to try the cake, she did make me the best soy latte I believe I've ever had in my entire life (no joke!), and she shoved an icing-covered ball of fondant in my mouth during the process. It was deliciously sweet!

 Have a great week!

2012 is feeling good so far

Helloo!

So on Sunday afternoon, Austin and I took our Great Dane, Ruthie,  to the park to watch a group of Larpers battle it out on a field. (You can see their FB fan page here). Can I just say that these kids looked awesome in combat with each other? It was exciting to watch, and to be honest, it kind of made me want to do it too.  Some of our friends ended up joining us, (and a few stray chihuahaus!) and we had a grand little time. Check it out!

I looked down and saw this little, little thing!
Ruthie loves little dogs. She's got a momma complex.
Friends showed up with frozen yogurt!

We had a great day at the park! I think we may go back next weekend too.

Have a great day!
