"Get Stitched" Wedding Embroidery

I just finished a new embroidery for a beautiful girl who wanted to have this stunning wedding photograph (not taken by me, I wish I knew who did take it because it is AMAZE) made for her husband for their second year anniversary. She was so sweet and excited about the project that she let me pick the color theme. I hope she is as happy with it as I was when I finished.

Got a photo you want stitched? Send it to me! Here's my shop!

Have a fantastic evening! I'm off to the dog park..

Swamp Patrol

I grew up in a very small Louisiana town. My family owned the local radio station, and if you got pulled over for a speeding ticket, you were on the front page of the newspaper. Although we moved away when I was nine to Houston, my grandparents lived there their whole lives and eventually my parents moved back. It is my favorite place in the world. When I drive past the fields I used to play in, or see the dock we used to swim off, I am fiercely overcome with nostalgia.

And the swamps. How do I even begin?

They're deep and glassy in the evening, and chartreuse at day, and the best time to visit them is a night, in the pitch black.

(The Rosalie, in Natchez). I took many a tour with my grandma.
The swamp next to KFNV, our old radio station. A car crashed into it once.

Oh dear! The dog is drivin' the boat!

Where is your favorite place and why?

Free Mustache Rides

Last weekend Austin and I helped our friend Jason Poland run the mustache ride at the Free Press Summer Fest. These boys got together and made a giant mustache-shaped seesaw for the occasion and my friend Julai sewed us some matching mustache dresses!

After going to Summer Fest and experiencing the heat, I've come up with some new and more appropriate names for it like:

The Gates of Fiery Hell Fest
Share Sweat with Strangers Fest
Dehydration Festival
Inappropriate Tween Ass Fest

Any of these could work!

All jokes aside, just wear your bathing suit and make use of the water operated art installations and you'll be fine.

My Brother in Law, Dr. Alcorn

I must use this post to honor my awesome brother-in-law, ( and Native Louisianan) who is the man to call when you are looking to dress up and/or plan for a party. No matter how bizarre the theme, for him no Halloween shall go unrecognized. For as long as I've known him, he has consistently gone above and beyond the call of duty to make a noteworthy costume. I've seen him Saran Wrap himself into a pair of size 8 women's pants for when he dressed as Siegfried; and he once spent a day making a life-sized sting ray out of paper mâché in the garage to accent his Steve Irwin costume. This is also a man that will go to three different grocery stores to make sure he gets the full deal on each of his triple coupons. "They need to pay ME for ketchup," he says.

When he and my sister invited us over for a crawfish boil with some of their friends, I wasn't surprised to find him in the garage in a pair of tie-dyed pants, peeling 10 pounds of garlic and onions in preparation to boil 160lbs of crawfish.

Instagram Slam

Good Morning!

First off, I have to say that I am so excited, because today marks the first day of our Farmhouse Delivery!! They are supposed to deliver us a bushel of fresh veggies today before 1pm. ...It's 8:35am and I'm already sitting on the couch, waiting to see the truck pull up outside. This is just too exciting for me.

OK, now to real business.

Criticism and all, I like Instagram. Being a photographer, it's usually a relief not to carry around an 8 pound camera, and then worry about uploading and post processing within a reasonable time frame. Instagram is instant and convenient, and I want to show you all of my favorite pictures that I've taken with it over the past year. They are random, but I think you'll like them!

If you want to see more, I'm under brittanyhavican.

Have an absolutely wonderful Saturday!
